What do you guys think of this? Not just from a technology standpoint but from a philosophical one.

Ubuntu 8.04 Review

I was a bit surprised when I realized that no one had yet given any kind of review on the latest release of Ubuntu. I'm by no means an expert in this area, & I will welcome any sort of replies you'd like to give with your experience with this OS (I'm sure I'll get something from Douglass :-) ).

Comment spam

It seems that we keep getting undesirable comment spam on this site & it seems that it happens because there is no secure way of signing up as a new user. Is there a way we could add a captcha image system to the new user registration form to avoid any kind of automated user registration?

Thanks,

~Chris Bischoff

Interaction & Training

Alex wrote an interesting comment in the discussion about outsourcing vs. interaction & training & I thought that this was an excellent topic to spin off into a new discussion.

Is programming from the devil? ;-)

That's what my friend in Holland thought who is on staff with YWAM there. Although I never thought that myself, I have always struggled with the concept that programming isn't really a ministry... it's just my "day job". It seems that it's not the truth & that God is calling us who are programmers to use that skill for His kingdom. Computers in God's kingdom? What? I don't know... but it seems there may be something to that. When I was at CRIT in Harpenden, England back in May, Chong Ho spoke about his passion to see God raise up IT Missionaries... & just like the jet airplane was the revolution for missions back in the 60's, so IT is going to revolutionize missions even further now in the 21st century.

How to bond/bridge network connections....?

Hi, I'm wondering if anyone might have a creative solution to something. My situation is that my YWAM location has DSL internet that allows 4 dynamic IP's. We have a switch connected to our DSL modem that will grab onto an IP per one of its 4 ports. My understanding is that each of those 4 ports (or IP's) should be able to get the published speed of 768Kbps download/128 Kbps upload. Is this correct/possible? If so, here's my question... is there a way to bridge those 4 IP's & combine their summed speeds (specifically on the upload)? My reasoning for this is that our current 128 Kbps upload on one IP address is just too slow to run a GENESIS link over IP. So, I'm looking for a creative way to increase that upload speed without much or any cost increase.
