Interaction & Training

Alex wrote an interesting comment in the discussion about outsourcing vs. interaction & training & I thought that this was an excellent topic to spin off into a new discussion.

I agree with what Alex was saying, which is why I'm praying about possibly running a 4- to 5-week seminar next year in Latvia for somewhat basic web design & programming. The idea would be to give YWAMers a foundation of skills to build upon that could benefit their bases (i.e. understanding of html, css, php, javascript, how to design a web template & working with a designer, choosing a cms that's right for your base, researching & choosing a webhost, & maybe touch on aspects of setting up an IT dept. for your base). I'm coming across a need for this time & again, so I thought instead of trying to stretch myself thin helping people, why not try to replicate what I know into others?

I truly appreciated the attitude that my teachers had in my GENESIS seminar about keeping technology in it's right place: it's just a tool & should not be worshiped. Only God should be worshiped. The tool is merely to be used to make sure that God comes through in our communication. So this must be the foundation of all of our training.

Have a very happy Easter!

re: Interaction & Training

Hi Chris,

I wrote another comment on training before I saw this blog entry.
Your idea sounds good. If you want to include Web Evangelism into that then you should contact Create International. I was in Perth when they ran a 1 week Web Evangelism Seminar there. Now I'm with Create as their "code warrior", like my big boss says ;)

So, if you're interested in that topic contact Create through the online form or drop me a line at [webev "at" createinternational "dot" com] and we can discuss the possibilities and I also will forward to Calvin.

Greetings from the MatriX,
