I was wondering if any of you guys have had experience on creating / adding subtitles to a DVD?
We are currently taking a YWAM sourced Worldview teaching series (DVD) that is in English and adding Swedish subtitles for use in a seminar in a local church setting. (We have also transcribed the English to help both English hard of hearing and also to ease retranslation into other languages)
I have tried a few options in PC/Linux world and one of my staff has been working on it from his Mac.
Basically we are taking the .vob files and adding text subtitles and recreating a new dvd
So far nothing looks too easy to do this from either FOSS or commercial software.
Does anyone have any recommendations?
Mike

Subtitling
Well, noone responded, but this site seems to have been down (no posts making it through) for several weeks.
I have ended up creating the subtitles from text in
- SUBTITLE WORKSHOP (freeware) and making initial timings there.
- AUGISUB (freeware) was used for finetuning timing using waveform editor.
- resulting subtitles saved in .SRT format
The DVD .VOB file and subtitle .SRT file can be muxed using DVDFLICK (freeware) or by using CONVERTX2DVD (shareware - costs about 40 Euros) which seems to do a better job.
This has been an interesting project.

Mike
